Serrated Low-drag Gurney Flaps

from $90.00

This optional upgrade to our MK5/7 Modular wing systems gives the ability to increase downforce a further 10 - 15% (depending on angle of attack) with a minimal drag penalty.

Delaying the mixing of the high and low pressure flows coming off of an airfoil, Gurney flaps work by creating a rotating recirculation bubble behind the wing (see attached technical diagrams) This effectively lengthens the chord of the airfoil, reducing the tendency to stall and allowing for an increased angle of attack.

Our design does a traditional Gurney flap one better by angling the trailing edges of the flap towards the center to direct the vortices inward. This increases the pressure gradient above the wing slightly while using vortex shedding to more efficiently mix the high and low pressure flows.

Made from laser cut .040 5052 aluminum, our serrated Gurney flap has comparable performance to Dan’s original flat design, but with additional reductions to parasitic drag.

International orders: Please contact us for an accurate shipping quote and details on timing prior to placing your order. We ship internationally with vPost, so our product must be shipped locally to one of their US distribution points prior to making its way overseas (with customers paying all shipping charges.)
